About Caitlin
Caitlin Shaw is a 22-year-old race car driver from Albuquerque, N.M. Shaw has had opportunities to drive in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the USAC National Midget Series, and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series as well as testing for multiple teams in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. She started racing quarter midgets when she was nine and at age 14 moved up to race mini sprints where she was the youngest and only female driver. Shaw was very successful in both of those divisions winning multiple championships in the quarter midgets and receiving Most Improved Mini-Sprint Driver at Sandia Motorsports Park. In 2005, she advanced into the USAC Ford Focus Midget Racing Series where she competed against drivers of all ages across the country. In 2008, Shaw competed in the USAC National Series as a K&N Development Driver. Then in 2009, Shaw made her debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. She is currently working at Michael Waltrip Racing as the media relations coordinator. Shaw is also very active in promoting racing in New Mexico. In 2009, she talked with preschool classes in Albuquerque about racing and in 2008 she participated in the Cherry Hills Library, "Sports Week" reading to elementary age children. In 2007, she helped to promote and organize a race at Sandia Motorsports Park for all school age children in Albuquerque. She also hosts storytimes around the country in places such as Riley Children's Hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Shaw is the first woman from New Mexico to compete in any of NASCAR's top levels, and in 2009 was the second youngest female to compete just a few weeks shy of Chrissy Wallace's record in 2008.
Shaw also made history by being the 6th woman to compete in the NCWTS in 2010 marking the most women to ever compete in any of NASCAR's series in one season.
